Board care!!

There are a few unwritten rules every surfer follows.

1. Never get sand on your board. You might think how is this possible if your at the beach and theres sand everywhere? Well, you never put your board face down on the sand. This will let all the sand attach to your wax and it wont come out. This leaves your board less sticky, gross-lookin, and uncomfortable when paddling out. Once you get home from the beach, put your board on the lawn and give it a quick rinse.

2. Lets say you got sand in your wax. Well, if its. a new wax job and you don't want to fix it, I guess you can let it be.  But, if you don't want sand in your wax, just follow a few simple steps. Once you get home and rinse off your board,  let it sit in the sun for enough time for the wax to soften and melt a bit.

After its soft, if you have a comb or scraper, begin to scrape your wax off in one direction.  If. you don't have a scraper, you can use an old gift card or something similar. Sometimes you will be able to see some of the wax stuck in your pressure spots. If this happens, just heat up some water on the stove and pour it slowly over the board and wipe the excess wax off. Or, you can just leave it in the sun for a few extra minutes and let the wax melt and wipe it off. with a towel after.

Once you got all. the wax in a ball, you can throw it away or repurpose it. Usually I just throw mine away and start fresh.

To apply surf wax, just go in diagonal lines all the way down. your board. Once you've done that and made it look like theres a bunch of diamonds on it, begin to do small circles in little areas at a time and work your way around the board. Once you've covered most  the board in wax, you can do big circles around where your feet are planted on the board.

3. Take care of your leash and fins! Often times, people forget about their fins when they are waxing their boards. They can break very easily so never step on your board if your not in the water. Next is your leash. Always wrap your leash around your fins and secure it. Dragging it will just get it dirty and messed up!
